Livelihoods

Green life target population is represented by daily wage workers and marginal farmers and artisans. A great majority is in a way or another linked to agricultural seasonality, in a state where rainfall is decreasing year by year. To break the cycle of dependence and poverty it is necessary to provide livelihood opportunities depending on the skills and capabilities of the target population. Possible schemes include livestock rearing, poultry boxes, dairy, occupational activities, petty shops, and others.

Women Empowerment

Green life has working experience with Self Help Groups in almost all the districts. Since the inception of Self-Help Groups in the rural villages, many of our team members are closely associated with the evolution of the concept in the rural villages and also were part in bringing up best practices in the groups. Training members were one of the core areas of facilitation in every aspect right from group management to bookkeeping. Entrepreneur Development Program, which was later evolved in the state and the same, was equipped by our team. So, the nature of the working environment, gaps that prevail, lack of value chain analysis, existing demand, operations of SHGs and VO’s, and the bank & marketing linkages are well studied by our team members. Our Team members experimented with some of the rural products that are still being successful in the targeted villages.

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

Water and Sanitation is another major focused area of the Organization because both are playing a key role in the tribal villages. Poor quality of drinking water in the villages is pushing them to the victims of seasonal diseases and on the other side poor sanitation in the villages strengthens the epidemic. The organization is taking precautionary measures on the issue and awareness programs are conducted in the villages. The organization has recently promoted the “Swacch Bharat” program in the villages and also taking the support of the “Rural Water Supply” department to get qualitative drinking water facilities and promote the construction of Individual Sanitary Latrines in the villages.

Promotion of Eco – Sanitation Toilets

The objective of the project is to construct 1000 toilets in the target villages, promote the communities to utilize the eco sanitation toilets, and introduce the new concept of eco sanitation toilets, where there will be maximum utilization of waste materials for crops. This is the first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh and the new concept of toilets helps the communities to reduce the usage of water, reduce open defecation, and the human waste is utilized for crops.
